Our Timeline

Jan2011

Our company began trading after it was founded by George Friend and Nicholas Umfreville.


Dec2012

Our revenue reached £950k and we began our first nationwide account for Hotel group servicing kitchen extracts.


Jun2013

We directly employed site staff to join our team of Directors.


Aug2013

We acquired 100% shareholding of Hygienic Maintenance Ltd


Dec2013

We undertook a Luxury Yacht Ventilation cleaning project based in Malta.


Mar2014

We secured a grant and loans from the Liverpool City Council and FW Capital, and were able to establish our Liverpool Headquarters.


Apr2015

We were completely moved into our new Headquarters and training centre in Sandon Way Industrial Estate, Liverpool.


May2015

We had secured a 5 year Healthcare tender for circa £2.0 million to spend over a contracted period.


Dec2015

VSS’s revenue had exceeded £2.6 million after continuing growth.


May2016

Large offshore project in the North Sea Gas Fields begin secured.


Sep2016

We had secured a 3 year maintenance tender for the ventilation and fire dampers at a London region airport.


Dec2016

Our revenue exceeded £3.0 million, and we gained a contract to work in 300 restaurants nationwide.


Dec2017

We employed over 60 direct staff nationwide, as well as signing up to a BESCA Ventilation Hygiene Elite scheme pilot.


Jan2018

Our ISO0991:2015 accreditation was achieved.

George has been involved in the ventilation hygiene industry for nearly 20 years and has undertaken hands on tasks through to overseeing multi million pound projects during this time. This direct experience allows him to have a uniquely rounded view on all aspects of a project from its implementation and completion through to contractual requirements and arrangements.

George has been a leading advocate of developing and improving the quality of industry standards and training and has been a President of the European Ventilation Hygiene Association and is an active member of BESA Ventilation hygiene and IAQ working groups. He is a co-author of industry standard TR19 and has helped to write and develop the new national Apprenticeship scheme and BESA training schemes.

His specialisms include areas such as Local Exhaust Ventilation Systems, Ventilation Hygiene, Fire Dampers and Indoor Air Quality.

Nick has been a driving force of air hygiene and ventilation compliance for the last thirty years within the UK and Europe. He has been central to delivering some of the largest ventilation hygiene projects undertaken over recent years to both multiple and single-site blue chip clients.

Nick is a co author of industry guidance TR19 and regularly trains and consults on compliance with current industry standards and legislation. Nick has travelled the world delivering training and project support to a multitude of ventilation hygiene projects in some of the most challenging environments possible.

He is fully accredited to undertake air conditioning energy assessments. Through his vast experience Nick’s other specialisms include Marine HVAC projects, large multi site tenders and projects and live Healthcare projects.
